A trip to the seaside. How very jolly on a Saturday afternoon. A spot on toe dipping into the surf and bracing breaths of the salt laden air. Ahhhh. What could be better?
A better grade of referee wouldn't hurt. And some blood and guts and glory. And a few more chaps turning up. These things make a winning side, or at the very least, help us onto that goal. The goal where we can report to the club that we actually won a game. Because the last time we did was the 17th June 2006.
It was a good game to watch and even Boner seemed to enjoy it. He volunteered to take Ping to the hospital even. Now that's sidelinde dedication. It's good to see so many of the team turning up at the oppositions club rooms after the game. Let's keep this up.

Uli led the boys onto the field for his 200th game (subject to confirmation) and proceded to show the young fellas how to dodge and throw a dummy pass and score. Unfortunately his wife didn't see it and will have to take our word for it that he was spectacular. And, thanks for the beers Uli. Cheers.
Whilst we had the chances to score, we let ourselves down by forgetting the basic rule, you can't score tries if you don't have the ball. At times it was like a keystone cops movie and at others like watching Grant Fox kicking the ball and never finding touch. Trés boring.
The forwards need to concentrate on not only ball retention in the rucks and mauls, but ball awareness. Most of the time no one knew where it was. The backs are proving they can be just as skittery as always, but overall had a more finished performance than the forwards. Maybe the key is to go to training and learn how to enjoy yourselves on the field a bit more.
Johnno had a small accounting error with the score which led him to believe we were 2 points ahead, when in actuality we were 2 points behind. Baaa.

They don't call him Poacher for nothing. Twice. And Toad as well. Very lovely to watch Keiths carving up some infidels like that. Unfortunately, not much else to report. Oscar was hopeless as a kicker. In fact he kicked backwards better than he did frontwards. Please come back Chilli. All is forgiven.
Was good to see Paul Barling back on the paddock all the way up from Cromwell and Adam Sparkes has rejoined until his second deportation order comes into effect from the UK via the EU.
Mmmmm. Beer.

Trouty's last game bought some Old Coves out. Only one to actually play though. Cheers Wazza. Oh, and Sparkesy has graced our fair shores again and will be putting some added mongrel into the locking position next week.
Nga. What a Wanker. That's all I've got to say on the matter.
Scoreboard says we lost and this time I think it was a fair reflection of the total effort we put in. Although, there were some individual outstanding performances, Matt and Chilli to name but two, it wasn't a co-hesive Keith performance. The back line had a somewhat easier time of it than the forwards who had several key positions not filled by those adequately versed in the role required for that position. But other than that, not a bad game.
The Club rooms were fun too. But still noticable were a few faces missing. Come on lads, it's a team game remember.

For the first game up of the season, the Keiths can be quite proud of the way the game went. Although the score didn't reflect it, Linwood were constantly being pushed and constantly being denied free run of the field as they have been granted by us in previous encounters.
New Boys came to the fore as they are wont to do and even going so far as to score on debut. Thanks Hadleigh. There were a few serious moments when Linwood gave Scotty and Psycho the old head high tackle didn't see it by the ref tap dance. But after a brief wash down to get rid of the blood, they were rearing to get back into play.
There were a couple of boys with excuses as to why they weren't at the game, and quite a few more without excuses. Come on lads, Keith is 29 years old this season. Let's act our age and like we know the rules.
