THE ONE WHERE THE PLAN COMES TOGETHER AND KEV GETS LACERATED

Over the years there have been some right battles against Burnside with one or two bouts of argy bargy. In the two season since we last played Burnside, they've either calmed down a bit, or matured a lot. Either way, I for one, am grateful. After last weeks tempest it's good to have smooth sailing.

The injury list is still of concern, but 20 minutes here and 20 minutes there from those malingering on the sideline boosted numbers to give us a good sized squad. Welcome back again to Hawea and Alex; and with D3 sending us Hamish we were prepared for the game.

A soft track under a sunny sky gave the skitteries (Richard POWER) a good run up to the try line, where a close mauling forward pack (Simon GIFFORD) proved we can do it when we try. I just wish we had have tried harder and more frequently. But twasn't to be.

Piez found out that throwing the ball in the lineout wasn't as easy as he previously had thought and Steve found out we like him just as much on the side of the scrum. Rob found out that he can do the first five thing just as well as the wing thing and I found out that wearing socks keeps my feet warmer.

A few beers at Burnside Clubrooms followed by a few beers at Keasty's co-incided with yet another All Blacks v England game although an awful lot of Keiths a): didn't show up at all and b): left at a surprising part during the game. The power of a test match isn't as strong as it once was.

How Kev got his scars should prove an interesting story to tell his grandkids but the facts should never get in the way of a good story.
